Sumaiya - An Asian Fairy Tale

I have uploaded an Asian Fairy Tale on my website. It is a story from the Bengal region, by Dakshinaranjan Majumdar, and I had translated it for a class last semester. This was one of my favorite fairy tales growing up, and I wanted to share it with you. The following link will take you to the site, if you want to read the story of the Lotus Princes....

Sumaiya - Went Boating

October 15, 2005: Went boating with my friends on Lewisville Lake. This is my brother, Zaeen.

August 28th, on my wedding anniversary, we had gone boating at the same lake. Our boat had run out of gas and the meter was out of order. It was around 9pm: it was a dark night and lightning flashed near the horizon from time to time. We tried rowing to the shore...called 911 and they said they couldn't help! Finally one of us tried to swim to the shore for help. He got down from the boat and figured out that the water was shallow enough to walk! husband and two other friends walked to the shore...walked miles through an abandoned property, got chased by dogs, etc. and reached the highway. Another friend was called and asked to meet them with gas. The three came back with gas around midnight. We had lost our way to the private boat ramp which happened to be unlit! Another friend on the shore shone his car headlights and his beacon brought us back to shore...around 3am!

Sumaiya - Playing with Photoshop

I was playing around in Photoshop and I made this for our Sumaiya & Jill podcast. Made me think of something. Nowadays, it is so easy to manipulate photos, that it is impossible to trust photographic proofs. When we see a photo on the web or on TV, and the authorities are making important claims based on these photo sources, how do we know for sure that the photos were authentic?

Jill - Our PODCAST is out!!! YAAAY!!!

Jill - Picture of me

Okay, at last I have a photo that's almost as good as the gorgeous one of Sumaiya.
It's me holding the bouqet for my fiance's sister and her matron of honor shortly before the ceremony.
