These are really pretty. Some of them look reddish and others dark brown - are the different colors used for different occasions?

The color of the henna depends on the how fresh the henna is. Generally, heat darkens the color; for example, henna from warmer climates usually leave darker stain. Also, if the henna paste stays on the hand longer, it has more time to react and makes the design darker.
